PRIVACY

The eLib, Inc. will never share your personal information with anyone else.

Purchase/Donation Privacy

When you purchase a service or product from us, or make a donation, we request certain personal information from you on the order form. Payment information (credit card number, etc.) and contact information are used only for processing your donation or order, or to contact you if there are problems completing the transaction. If you make a donation, we will use your contact information to send you a receipt for your tax records. Credit card transactions are processed using the Address Verification System. Used mainly in the United States, this confirms that the address you have provided matches the address the card-issuing bank has for you.

Tell-a-Friend Privacy

If you choose to use our referral services to tell a friend about our site, we will ask you for your name and email address, and your friend’s name and email address. We will use this to send a one-time email inviting your friend to visit the site. The eLib does not store this information.

Log Files

As is true of most Web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.

We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track users’ movements around the site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user’s computer for record-keeping purposes. We use cookies on this site. We do not link the information we store in cookies to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site.

We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies.

We use session cookies to make it easier for you to navigate our site. A session ID cookie expires when you close you browser.

We set a persistent cookie on your hard drive to store your ordering information, so you don’t have to enter it more than once. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided in your Internet browser’s “help” file.

If you reject cookies, you may still use our site, but your ability to use some areas of our site will be limited.

SECURITY

The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number) on our registration or order forms, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). The SSL (secure socket layer) protocol is the web standard for encrypting communications between users and web sites. Data sent via an SSL connection is protected by encryption, a mechanism that prevents eavesdropping and tampering with any transmitted data. SSL provides businesses and consumers with the confidence that private data sent to a web site, such as credit card numbers, are kept confidential. Web server certificates are required to initialize an SSL session.

To give you an additional layer of security, all credit card numbers are stored on a computer that is not connected to the Internet. After you type it in, fax it in, or call it in, your complete credit card number is transferred to this secure machine across a proprietary interface that is encrypted. This computer is not accessible by network or modem, and the number is not stored anywhere else.
